Nissan Middle East affirmed the iconic Patrol’s SUV market share dominance within the region, announcing that over 20,000 Nissan Patrol vehicles were sold in the Gulf during the company’s 2020 fiscal year (FY20). This resulted in a 32.2% growth within its segment – with the Nissan Patrol Platinum emerging as the best-selling grade for the fiscal year, from April 2020 till March 2021.
Nissan also revealed that the 2021 Patrol NISMO, the race-inspired version of the Patrol launched exclusively in the Gulf earlier this year, has been well received by the consumers. Featuring a bold design, race-proven engineering and redefined aerodynamics, over 340 exquisitely crafted units of the high-performance SUV have already been sold, with pre-orders booking all units until October 2021.
The impressive sales performances over the past year, despite the impact of COVID-19 pandemic, underlines the region’s sustained love for the Patrol, which combines class-leading power and unparalleled on- and off-road capabilities with the latest Nissan Intelligent Mobility technologies, all encapsulated within a sleek exterior and premium interiors to provide a truly luxurious experience.
Thierry Sabbagh, Managing Director, Nissan Middle East said: “For decades, Nissan Patrol has built a proud legacy of conquering every terrain – while becoming intrinsically linked to the history and heritage of the region as an SUV of choice for Gulf nationals and expats. The success of the Patrol is also due to its continued evolution to reflect the aspirations of our customers, as a powerful and luxurious vehicle that is capable of going anywhere, while ensuring riding comfort, safety and sophistication.”
Now in its seventh decade since its first global introduction in 1951, the Nissan Patrol features key design upgrades including Nissan’s front V-motion grille, boomerang-shaped LED headlights and taillights. Under the hood, the Nissan Patrol features the strongest naturally-aspirated V6 and V8 engines in the segment – with a base 4.0-liter V6 which produces 275 horsepower and 394 Nm of torque, and a 5.6-liter V8 produces 400 horsepower and 560 Nm of torque.
Sabbagh continued: “These highly encouraging year-on-year sales results, particularly in a year that saw unprecedented challenges for the industry, are a testament to the enduring popularity of the Patrol – and one we look to grow even further as we celebrate its 70th anniversary throughout the year.”
The extensive Patrol line-up in the region also includes the Patrol Super Safari, which continued to transcend expectations of a 4WD vehicle with design and tech enhancements in its 2021 edition. With new colour combinations, alloy wheels and other striking exterior and interior upgrades, the iconic off-road vehicle brings a fresh look to its exceptional performance and enduring legacy as one of the most coveted SUVs in the region.
These announcements come as part of Nissan’s ongoing celebrations for the Patrol’s 70th anniversary this year – highlighting its significance to Nissan’s SUV heritage. The Nissan Patrol has been loved by generations of loyal customers across the world – with its durability, reliability, premium design, safety, comfort features and unmatched all-terrain performance leading to the sale of over 1.9 million units globally since 1951.
The Patrol’s deep-rooted connection to the Middle East can be traced back to its arrival to the region in 1956, and it has continued to hold a special place in the hearts and minds of customers who value performance even in the toughest of conditions. It has also won a number of accolades over the years – including the highest grade of customer satisfaction and the highest resale value.
