The entry of the new-gen 2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class has shaken up the luxury car segment. Mercedes-Benz has yet again surprised us with a sedan that has the perfect blend of power and tech. Although under the Mercedes Benz lineup, the car has served as an entry-point vehicle, new additions by the brand such as the A-class sedan has allowed it to move upmarket and compete with rivals like BMW 3-series, Audi A4 and Genesis G70. The all-new sedan is built on the rear-drive platform, powered by a four-cylinder turbocharged engine and has an option of all-wheel drive. Although the external styling of the C-class isn’t a huge departure from its predecessor 2021 model, the new-gen model is built to offer more luxury and is equipped with more high-tech features.
Key Features
Discarding the serve up option-a la carte this time, Mercedes-Benz has decided to offer three distinct trim levels on their 2022 C-class that includes- Premium, Exclusive and Pinnacle. A look at the features reveals that the Exclusive trim is designed to impress the majority of the buyers as it comprises the industry’s best features such as a self-parking feature, exterior 360-degree camera system, and a Burmester premium stereo system and wireless smartphone charging facility. All the models are equipped with a digital gauge display, a large infotainment display, automated high-beam headlamps, heated front seats, wireless Apple CarPlay, a sunroof, Android Auto and many more features. Plus, the Mercedes-Benz’s 4Matic all-wheel-drive comes as an optional feature and is upon buyers to decide whether they want it.
Performance
Now coming to the performance, the 2022 C-class is optimised to offer the best performance. Although this model continues to be powered by a turbocharged 255-hp 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine like the previous model, the performance has been enhanced with an added 48-volt hybrid system that enables the car to deliver 20 extra horsepower. With optional all-wheel drive features that come with a standard set-up of rear-wheel drive, the model is equipped with a single nine-speed automatic gearbox. As estimated by Mercedes Benz, the car will hit 60mph in 5.9 seconds.
Interiors
As we have mentioned earlier that there have not been any major changes in the model’s external design, the interior, however, has a different story to tell. Stepping into the new model is like a breath of fresh air. Mercedes has included all the luxurious features such as turbine-looking air vents both at the front and back, all models are equipped with sensor controls and digital gauge displays and a redesigned steering wheel. Moreover, it comes with other standard luxury features like open-pore wood trim, memory settings and aluminium accents. In size, the 2022 C-Class Mercedes Benz is 2.5 inches longer than its predecessor, and the wheelbase is extended by an inch. As per the company, this feature will serve more leg space in the rear area.
Additional Features
The car comes with a vertically oriented infotainment display that is similar to the brand’s other model- the S-class sedan. Plus, the touch screen is conveniently tilted towards the driver for easier use. The model comes with Mercedes MBUX, the most updated version of the infotainment system that has a voice-activated digital assistant, Android auto and online access via an advanced Wi-Fi hotspot. Mercedes has equipped the model with an array of advanced driver-assisting safety features that include adaptive cruise control using navigation data, which facilitates the vehicle to seamlessly adjust speed.
