Track Your BMW’s Full CO₂ Footprint – From Factory to Road

My BMW App Now Shows CO₂ Emissions Across the Full Vehicle Lifecycle

BMW has taken a significant step forward in sustainability by upgrading the My BMW App and MINI App to show drivers their total CO₂ emissions — not just during use, but across the entire life cycle of their vehicle. For the first time, users can view emissions data that includes manufacturing, vehicle usage, and energy consumption.

This new feature expands on the “My Trips” section in the app, which already tracks energy consumption per journey. Now, it offers a detailed footprint that considers all types of drive systems, including electric, hybrid, and combustion engines. The goal is to give drivers a better understanding of their personal environmental impact and encourage more conscious driving habits.

Displayed clearly under the “Vehicle Footprint” section, the app breaks down lifecycle CO₂e (carbon dioxide equivalent) emissions in tons. For example, as shown in the app interface, one vehicle’s total emissions are ~14.6 t CO₂e, based on a usage of ~344 kWh. This transparency allows users to see not just the environmental cost of driving, but also of producing and maintaining their BMW vehicle.

Currently available for select models, this innovation is part of BMW Group’s ongoing commitment to environmental responsibility and efficient driving. It also reflects the brand’s push toward integrating digital tools with sustainable mobility — a future where every driver becomes more aware and empowered through data.

This update marks an important evolution in vehicle infotainment and sustainability features, keeping BMW at the forefront of responsible automotive innovation.
