ROX ADAMAS production begins in Abu Dhabi as the Emirates accelerates its ambition to become an automotive manufacturing hub
The UAE automotive story is changing. For years, the Emirates has been one of the Middle East’s most important markets for importing, selling and showcasing cars. Now, an increasingly important question is emerging: could the UAE also become a serious automotive manufacturing centre?
A significant step in that direction has just taken place in Abu Dhabi.
ROX has completed its Advanced AI Manufacturing Centre in the emirate and started local vehicle production, with the first three ROX ADAMAS vehicles rolling off the production line carrying the “Made in the Emirates” mark.
For UAE motorists, this is more than another SUV launch. It represents another piece of a much larger transformation taking place in the country’s automotive sector.
From Car Market to Car Manufacturer
Dubai and Abu Dhabi have long been important destinations for global automotive brands. But the UAE is increasingly looking beyond vehicle sales toward advanced manufacturing, mobility technology and localisation.
The ROX facility is part of a partnership with the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO) and is intended to support localisation across areas including technology, design and supply chains. The project also sits within the wider Make it in the Emirates industrial strategy.

If manufacturers can develop meaningful UAE operations involving production, engineering, technology, suppliers and skilled employment, Abu Dhabi could gradually establish a larger role within the global automotive supply chain.
The UAE has already demonstrated its ability to build internationally significant industries around aviation, logistics and advanced technology. Automotive manufacturing presents another opportunity—particularly as the industry shifts toward electrified vehicles, software and AI.
