New BMW iX4 Revealed with Up to 828 KM of Electric Range
BMW's Electric Future Takes Shape

BMW has unveiled the new iX4, a fully electric SUV coupé that brings the company’s Neue Klasse technology into a more expressive and sporting body style. Revealed on October 8, 2026, the model combines long-distance electric capability, advanced digital technology and a distinctive design aimed at customers seeking performance without abandoning everyday practicality.
According to the official BMW announcement, the new iX4 will initially be offered in two all-wheel-drive versions, with a higher-performance M variant joining the range later.

A New Expression of BMW’s Neue Klasse
The iX4 represents another important step in BMW’s transformation towards next-generation electric mobility.
Its exterior introduces a dramatic coupé-inspired roofline, sculpted body panels and a redesigned interpretation of BMW’s familiar kidney grille. Slim lighting elements and a pronounced rear spoiler reinforce the vehicle’s sporting character.
The design continues the philosophy previously explored in CarBook Magazine’s feature on the BMW Neue Klasse 2026, which examined how BMW is rethinking electric vehicle architecture, technology and driver engagement.
Up to 828 KM of Driving Range
One of the iX4’s most significant developments is its sixth-generation BMW eDrive technology.
The BMW iX4 50 xDrive produces 469 hp and 645 Nm of torque, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds. BMW quotes a maximum WLTP range of 828 kilometres.
The iX4 40 xDrive delivers 374 hp, reaches 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds and offers a maximum quoted range of 638 kilometres.
Both versions feature electric motors on the front and rear axles.
With an 800-volt electrical architecture, the iX4 50 xDrive supports DC charging at up to 400 kW. Under suitable charging conditions, BMW says it can recover up to 387 kilometres of range in ten minutes. Actual range and charging performance depend on conditions and equipment.

Digital Technology Meets Driver Comfort
Inside, the iX4 introduces BMW Panoramic iDrive with Operating System X.
The system combines a 17.9-inch central display, BMW Panoramic Vision and an available 3D head-up display to present driving information in a more integrated format.
A panoramic glass roof, electrically adjustable seating and a carefully designed interior contribute to the premium experience.
BMW also emphasizes generous passenger space despite the vehicle’s sloping roofline.
Performance Remains a Priority
For drivers seeking stronger performance, BMW has confirmed the iX4 M60 xDrive.
The range-topping model will produce up to 612 hp and accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 3.9 seconds, according to BMW’s preliminary specifications.
Its introduction reinforces the manufacturer’s intention to preserve the performance identity of its M models as electrification progresses.
What the iX4 Means for the UAE
The iX4 could attract attention in the UAE, where premium electric SUVs are becoming increasingly relevant.
As previously explored in CarBook’s coverage of Dubai’s growing electric vehicle market, charging infrastructure, technology and long-distance capability are important considerations for local buyers.
However, BMW has not confirmed UAE pricing or local delivery dates in the announcement reviewed.
The first iX4 variants are scheduled to launch in March 2027.
For BMW, the iX4 demonstrates how the Neue Klasse platform can support vehicles that combine electric efficiency, advanced technology and the emotional appeal traditionally associated with the brand.
