Goodwood Festival of Speed 2026: Where Motorsport Legends Meet the Future

Every July, the automotive world turns its attention to one place—Goodwood Festival of Speed in West Sussex, England. More than just a motorsport event, Goodwood has become a global celebration of performance, engineering, and automotive heritage. The 2026 edition once again brought together legendary race cars, cutting-edge hypercars, Formula 1 machines, and some of the world’s most influential manufacturers in one unforgettable showcase.
One of the biggest highlights this year was the Timed Shoot-Out, where manufacturers pushed the limits of performance on the famous Goodwood hillclimb. Romain Dumas claimed victory in the all-electric Ford Super Mustang Mach-E, recording an impressive 41.97-second run. The result reinforced how electric performance cars are now capable of competing with—and beating—traditional combustion-powered rivals in demanding motorsport environments.
Another crowd favourite was the Red Bull RB17, Adrian Newey’s long-awaited hypercar. Built using Formula 1-inspired aerodynamics and lightweight engineering, the RB17 attracted enormous attention as one of the most technically advanced road-going performance cars ever created. Its appearance highlighted the growing connection between Formula 1 innovation and ultra-exclusive production vehicles.
Ferrari also celebrated its racing heritage by displaying the spectacular 499P Modificata, a machine derived from the Le Mans-winning 499P Hypercar. Alongside it were historic race cars that reminded visitors of Ferrari’s enduring success in endurance racing, demonstrating how the Italian marque continues to blend tradition with modern technology.
Porsche remained one of the strongest participants, bringing legendary race cars including the iconic 956 and 962, driven by five-time Le Mans winner Derek Bell. These historic machines shared the hill with modern competition cars, giving enthusiasts a rare opportunity to experience decades of motorsport evolution in one event.
Goodwood’s appeal extends beyond racing. It has become one of the industry’s most important platforms for manufacturers to unveil new models, showcase future technologies, and connect directly with enthusiasts. Luxury brands including Aston Martin, McLaren, Lamborghini, Bentley, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz use the festival to demonstrate their latest innovations in front of a global audience.
The festival also celebrates the people behind the machines. Legendary racing drivers, engineers, and designers interact with fans throughout the weekend, creating an atmosphere unlike any other automotive event. From classic Formula 1 cars to modern electric prototypes, Goodwood successfully bridges the gap between automotive history and the future of mobility.
